Safety Protection Grid Solutions, Inc. (SPGS) has a team of experts that have been working in the field of electrical protection for over 50 years. We all have different points in where our careers started, but one of the goals that we have in common is to provide the highest quality of electrical solutions for your facility.

Please view our team of experts' short bios below:

George Zeigler, President

In 1964 George entered the Army Corps of Engineers as a heavy equipment operator and was mainly involved in building roads in southeast Asia. When he left the Army in 1967 he entered the telecommunications industry with ITT. He started at the entry level position within two years he was supervising a crew installing telephone switches throughout the United States. He became the area manager of 5 states for ITT.

In 1978 ITT chose him to be responsible along with the design engineers to install the first ITT digital switch in the United States. All of us had tested the digital switch in the Delaware, Ohio lab and we highly praised its reliability even before in was placed in service in Emlenton, Pennsylvania September 1978. The first weekend the switch went down due to a lightning strike. This is when he started to learn about the true importance of bonding, grounding electrical and equipment protection. Soon he was doing grounding audits for ITT and became a subject matter expert in bonding, grounding and electrical protection.

In 1982 he started his first company Global Tron Inc. and turned it into a highly successful business.

In 1996 he started SPGS with the focused goal of improving electrical reliability and enhancing power quality through proper bonding, grounding and equipment protection. Soon thereafter he wrote the bonding and grounding standards for Alltel’s remote and switch sites. He assisted US Cellular with their switch and cell sites standards.

During 2003-2005 SPGS was on the IEEE 1100 Emerald Book grounding upgrade committee. We are listed in the current IEEE 1100 as contributors to the standard.

George plays a major role in selection products and developing methods for evaluation facilities for holistic facility electrical protection which ensures our customers 24/7 operations with the lowest rate of downtime and equipment failure in the industry.

Levi Zeigler, Vice President

From the age of 12 Levi has had experience in being around telecommunications equipment as well as taking it apart. He has traveled extensively with his father George during his summertime vacation to numerous telecommunications facilities to help him with evaluating the efficiency of their bonding and grounding systems.

From the age of 16 Levi held a part time position in SPGS doing ACAD work along with miscellaneous data entry positions. He continued doing this type of work until 2003 which he graduated from Ashland University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management.

The following spring at the age of 23 he began a new position as a field technician and within a year he was promoted to field service manager and responsible for managing all grounding alterations and conducting all troubleshooting for SPGS for the entire United States.

Now 35 years old, Levi has been working to protect telecommunications sites for over 20 years. Levi is recognized as a subject matter expert in bonding, grounding, and electrical protection. He has been involved in and has managed the process of: writing protection standards, evaluating, designing, installing, and testing of hundreds of telecommunications facilities across the United States.

Daniel Soleil, Director of Operations in Europe

Daniel Soleil received his degree in engineering in 1966 from ESEO – Angers - France, he began his career with the design of high-frequency apparatus to control TV relays (FERISOL) then high power inverters (800 kVA in Alstom corporation).

His researches on industrial interferences, in 1990’s opened up his new concept “Zero Method - ZM”, an accessible process to control interference and lightning protection, entailing many challenges for components, corrections and engineering. ZM is a specific tool for EMC System very liked by all electricians, from field to researcher.

Today ZM is called to review major mistakes within in standards for sensitive buildings as hospitals, electrophysiology research, lightning EMC protection for gas plants etc. The forecast effects are in AFNOR French committee, later European and IEC committees. ZM doesn’t move the personal safety guides but treats the EMC safety which is a great domain to reach “0 default”. ZM access is in the public domain and the components are patented as alone inventor.
